This month, we are once again highlighting a great patient: Our very own Wil Jenkins! Wil (and yes, he spells his name with one “l”) has been a dental assistant with us here at Blue Apple Dental Group for more than one year now, and has been assisting smiles for about seven years total. We all love hearing his corny jokes and seeing his great smile. He’s also is a tinkerer and recently got a motorcycle, which makes his stories even more interesting!
Wil has also started a course of Invisalign as a patient at our practice. Invisalign is a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners that are a smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wil is almost one month into his approximately two-year treatment plan. I would have to say his case is one of the more complicated ones Dr. Lieu is managing.
Wil has more “buttons” on his teeth (buttons are part of the Invisalign treatment; they direct movement by applying force to the teeth) than I have ever seen! He, of course, is a good sport about it, but has noticed some challenges with the buttons. I did a short interview with him so he could tell his story in his own words. Wil’s fun and open personality comes through as he speaks frankly about his experience in this video:
Wil has also noticed that, since he’s had the Invisalign trays in, he has temporarily stopped clenching and grinding his teeth since having the trays in prevents that. He has also noticed that he is more aware of his trays than other people.
Wil does some public speaking and has not had anyone say anything to him about altered speech or sounding like he has a lisp. In fact, the entire interview you just watched was done with his trays in. Watch it again and see if you notice any interference in his speech caused by the Invisalign trays. It’s barely noticeable!
Invisalign is a great option for both younger and older people who want to straighten their teeth without having to use wires and brackets. We will be offering an Invisalign Day on Thursday, September 25, 2014, which is the perfect opportunity for you to come in and learn more about Invisalign and what we can do for you.
During the Invisalign Day, we offer a discount on the cost of treatment for people with and without insurance. Consultations are no charge, so if you are interested and would like to see if you are a candidate, call us at 707-795-4523 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and make an appointment today.
We will keep up with Wil as his treatment progresses, so stay tuned for his next video interview!
Happy summer, and as I always like to share a good recipe in each of my posts, I hope you enjoy this healthy, easy recipe for Basil Chicken over Angel Hair a fun family dinner. It has simple, fresh ingredients and just a touch of hot pepper sauce to spice things up.
